Easy Valentine’s Day Mods for Any Amigurumi
Transforming your favorite amigurumi into a delightful Valentine's Day creation is both fun and incredibly easy!
A charming way to show love and affection to your favorite person is by giving your character a cute little heart to hold—just crochet a little heart in your favorite yarn color, then snugly place it in their hands or gently position it close to their chest.
If you want to add an extra sprinkle of affection and creativity, consider modifying the eyes with a whimsical touch by stitching heart shapes or using soft felt to craft little heart eyes that truly radiate love. These simple additions give your amigurumi a bit of personality, while also making them a perfect gift or charming decoration for Valentine’s!

Add a Heart to Hold
3D Heart
Repeat R1–2 twice with red, pink, or any color yarn:
| R1 | Start 6 sc in a magic ring | (6) |
| R2 | [sc, inc] x 3 | (9) |
For the first piece, invisible fasten off, weave in the yarn tail or carry over when you join the second piece.
For the second piece, do not fasten off.
For R3 you will crochet around both pieces by inserting your hook into the invisible fasten off of the first piece and pulling your first sc through.
| R3 | 18 sc | (18) |
| R4 | [dec, sc] x 3, [sc, dec] x 3 | (12) |
| R5 | [2 sc, dec] x 3 | (9) |
| Stuff the piece | ||
| R6 | [sc, dec] x 3 | (6) |
Fasten off, leaving a tail. Thread a needle with the tail and pull tightly through the remaining front loops. If there’s a gap where the two tops of the heart meet, use the tail to pull them together. Hide the tail in the body.
Attach the tips of the amigurumi’s arms to the heart, and then position and sew the arms to the piece vertically.
Flat Heart
Small and larger flat heart
You can also make a flat heart in a single round around a magic ring. This could replace a round belly piece, the amigurumi can hold it like the 3D heart, or they can be used as heart eyes on large pieces.

You can make this slightly bigger or smaller by changing the length of the chain by a stitch or two. Making it too much bigger will result in holes. You can also use a larger or smaller hook to make slight adjustments to the size.
